I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, which means I am trained in a variety of modalities and adapt these depending on the needs of the client. My training is in Attachment theory, Psychodynamic theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centered Humanistic Therapy and Child-Led Play Therapy, amongst others.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a personalised process and involves processing various challenges in a safe and confidential space. I allow young people to openly explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences through empathic listening, a strong therapeutic relationship and tailored techniques that facilitate deeper understanding of oneself.

I recognise the importance of play, art and imagination as a valuable tool for therapeutic healing and use my experience as an artist to help nurture the creativity and individuality of each child I work with. My style is warm, fun and empathetic and I create an environment where children and young people feel heard, held and honoured.

By working in a child-led way I aim to foster resilience while respecting each child’s unique needs, aware of their cultural framework and systemic family network. This helps to facilitate positive changes in their emotional, psychological and behavioural well-being.

Why do children and young people come to therapy?

It is very normal and common to experience struggles in life. However, sometimes these can feel overwhelming and cause persistent distress or feelings of being ‘stuck’. This can cause difficulties in going about our daily activities, relationships or other areas of our lives. Children and young people can be particularly sensitive to these changes or difficulties and may require additional support. Psychotherapy allows them to have a space where they feel safe to explore these feelings and develop coping strategies.

I offer support for specific concerns as well as longer-term challenges. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Exam/school stress

  • Low mood

  • Bereavement

  • Emotional regulation

  • Low self-esteem

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Transitions

  • Parental/family separation

  • Friendships difficulties

  • Self-harm
